Moviepark

14/6/2009: Thanks to saudari Kesten yang bagi idea, kami semua bergerak ke Bottrop, sebuah bandar kecil yang terletak berdekatan dengan Essen untuk mengunjungi taman tema yang dikenali sebagai Moviepark. Taman tersebut ala2 macam taman tema kat Genting. Memandangkan tempat tersebut agak jauh dari Köln, maka kami membuat keputusan untuk bertolak dari Köln Hauptbahnhhof seawal jam 10 pagi. Tetapi perjalanan menaiki tren S-Bahn yang berhenti di banyak stesen telah memakan masa sampai 2 jam, sehingga membazir masa kami. Tapi tak mengapa, jadikan ini sebagai pengajaran ye Cik Kesten. :-) Senior Ahmad & Senior Kamil yang bermalam di rumah kami pada malam sebelumnya turut menyertai perjalanan kami ke Bottrop.

Kami tiba di Bottrop pada pukul 1. Berkat usaha bertanya dengan akak di kaunter menggunakan bahasa Jerman yang berterabur, akhirnya kami berjaya memdapat discount rate untuk student. Kami dapat masuk dengan harga yang lebih rendah berbanding harga biasa. Sampai di sana kami terus solat (solat kat tepi2 jalan je), dan selepas itu terus enjoy dengan permainan yang ada di sana.

Kami balik semula ke Köln pada kira-kira pukul 7 petang. Rancangan asal hendak makan-makan di KFC di Dom, tapi takut tak sempat hendak solat Asar (terlepas ayam goreng yang sedap). Maka kami pun singgah di Düsseldorf untuk solat Asar dan makan di restoran yang ditunjukkan oleh Senior Ahmad. Tuan punya kedai yang amat murah hati telah memberi ayam panggang lebih kepada kami untuk dibawa pulang dengan percuma. Kami sampai di Köln pada pukul 11 malam dengan perut yang kenyang dan hati yang gembira...

Dah malam.. Penat.. Nak balik..

P/S: Sesungguhnya aku berasa agak sengal bertutur menggunakan bahasa baku dalam blog ini.. Skema giler.. Isk3..

Alhamdulillah.. It's over.. My 6-month preparation course, also known as 'Studiencolleg' is finally over.. We had the final exams this week, and we sat 4 four tests, which are Deutsch, Physics, Technical Drawing (direct translation form the german term 'Technisches Zeichnen', or in BM 'Lukisan Kejuruteraan') and Maths. It went well, but I had a bit of problem in the Math test. But still, I'm satisfied of my performance so far. We'll just see how it turns out later, results will be out next week. I pray to Allah S.W.T that everyone will achieve great results in this exam.. Amin~

A little info: 'Studiencolleg' is quite similar to the 'AUSMAT' course which I did in Malaysia. Usually it would take one year to complete, but since we have done AUSMAT, we had the exception of just doing it for 6 months. 'Feststellungsprüfung' is the name on the finals in this course. It'll decide in which FH (University of Applied Sciences) I'm qualified to study.. huhu..

"Nazmi, ko ske dengar lagu cmne eh?" Lina asked me, as we were hanging out at McDonalds Bandar Utama. We just started our studies in KBU that time, probably around August 2007.

"Oh.. Aku ni pelik skit. Aku ske dengar lagu English je.. Lagu melayu tak layan sangat.." I replied. (Friends, don't be mad, it's true.. Somehow I'm just not into Malay songs.. But don't ever think that I knoe NOTHING about Malay songs..) :p

"Ooo.. Erm, ko pandai main apa2 instrument tak?" she asked me again.

"Erm, aku pandai main gitar. Tapi takdela terer sangat.. Setakat boleh main je.." I replied again, this time trying to be humble.. :P

"Yeke? Boleh tak ajar aku main gitar? Kawan aku ader bawak gitar kat sini.. Nanti aku pinjam dari dia, ko ajar aku ye.." Lina said again.

Unfortunately she could't get the guitar from her friend. For the whole one and a half year studying in KBU, I hardly got my hands on a guitar. I felt very sloppy the first time I hold my guitar after I got back to Kuching. Anyways, I told her that I'd teach her to play guitar, but I didn't get the chance to do that in KBU. Now that I've bought a new guitar, I thought I keep my promise by singing her a song.. Huhu.. Hope you like it Lina.. :-)

Earlier this month I bought myself an acoustic guitar. I spent a total of €132 for the guitar, which consists of an acoustic guitar, picks, a guitar case and a tuner. It's been a long time since I played or even touched a guitar. Kinda sloppy the first time I played it after I brought it home.. Huhu..

The funny thing is, I seem to greatly influence the people around me with it. Suddenly, all my housemates were very enthusiastic and wanted to learn from me. Faris & Azri bought themselves each a guitar just after 2 days I bought mine. The following day Zu bought his, which he shares with Fir. Altogether we have 4 guitars in our house. It's really a lot of fun, we jam every day, try some new songs and sing out loud despite our lack of vocal talent (actually no talent at all).

The funnier thing is, my senior, Ahmad got addicted to guitar after he played mine. He bought himself a guitar about 2 weeks ago, but unfortunately he's not very satisfied with it. The funniest thing is, my friend Lina who studies in Australia bought a guitar around the same time too! She just started learning, and right now she's asking for help from me through Internet. I can't really teach her cuz, duh, she's in Australia. I hope she's having fun with her guitar.

Although it's fun to play the guitar, it's actually very distracting. Because of it I could only complete my homework at a slow pace. Sometimes I get carried over, causing me to sleep very late at night, then having not enough sleep. So friends, think about your priorities first before you start strumming.. Huhu..

'Lesen' yang dimaksudkan di sini bukanlah lesen memandu atau lesen menunggang motosikal mahupun lesen terbang.. 'Lesen' ialah kata kerja dalam bahasa Jerman yang bermaksud 'baca'. Baru2 ini minat membaca tiba2 timbul dalam diri aku. Sebelum nie memang tak minat langsung nak baca buku. Buku sastera BM masa sekolah menengah pun tak pernah habis baca.. Huhu.. Memang tak minat langsung la baca buku. Tetapi mungkin kerana di Jerman nie, demand penggunaan bahasa Jerman amat tinggi, and terasa diri ini masih lagi kurang fasih berbahasa Jerman. Maka dari situlah timbulnya kesedaran untuk mengamalkan sifat membaca. Di sini aku nak share serba sedikit tentang cara2 aku mula dengan habit membaca. Lundu a.k.a London

"Mak, London ya jauh kah?" I remember vividly this question that I asked my mom when I was still little.

"Sik jauh eh. Sejam dah sampey.." my mom answered, simple yet confusing for a 6 year old.

"Sejam jak? Bukan London ya jauh kah??? Berapa tambang nak pegi London bah?" I asked again.

"RM30 jak. Sik jauh eh. Nait motor sampey.." this answer really messed the head of the 6 year-old. How come the fare only costs RM30? Does it really take one hour to reach there?

When I got older, I realized that the 'London' that my mom meant was the name of the district where my grandparents live. It's about 90km away from Kuching. Many of my childhood memories took place at the big house at the foot of Mount Gading. Playing with my cousins, swimmming in the stream behind the house, and lots more. I miss everyone there. Wish to see them real soon.

14 years later, who would've thought that 6 year old boy could really set his foot to the capital of the United Kingdom. Joining 11 other classmates, I departed for London from Köln on the evening of 11th April. The sun was shining bright in Köln on that day, as if it is smiling while welcoming the arrival of spring. The supposedly 90 minutes flight took only half of the estimated time. When we landed in London. It was 8 p.m local time. London is colder than Köln, probably because of its geograpihical location which is more up in the north. Pouring rain made the temperature even lower. We only reached our hostel where we stayed at 1 a.m, due to a little complication with transportation (stupid bus conductor). The hostel is satisfactory, although it didn't give me a good first impression. There was a halal fast food restaurant just next to it, and it's near to the New Cross Gate train station.

The first day, we decided to visit a museum called HMS Belfast. With our London Pass, we did not have to pay for the entrance fee. Originally it was a battleship which was used in war, and it has served in war for a few times and managed to survive till today. Now, it is turned into a museum located at the Thames River near the London Bridge. Things to see: history of HMS Belfast, life on deck, shipbuilding, and a giant missile.

Next, we visited the most important landmark of London: The Tower Bridge. This suspension bridge was opened to public in June 1894. The special characteristic of this bridge is, that it could be 'opened' to allow ships passing through. This bridge has an engine room which holds all the hydraulic systems & steam engines which control the raising of the middle part of the bridge to 'open' the bridge. Posing lg jap...

Because we didn't have breakfast that day, we ran out of fuel after visiting just 2 places. So, we went to fill up our tanks before we moved on to the next spot: The British at War museum. We ran through this place quickly because we wanted to save time for visitng other places. This museum is quite boring anyway. I'll just let you see some pics so that you have the idea what the museum is about. Isi minyak dulu.. Huhu..

Around 5 o'clock in the evening we decided to went back to our hostel, because we failed to find a mosque around the London Bridge area. After our early dinner we headed out again to North London, where the gigantic stadium of the Arsenal FC, the Emirates stadium is located. By the time we got there it was already dark. Funny how such a big stadium could be built in this area, because this area looks like a housing estate to me; lots of houses stood just across the street. Of course, the stadium is closed at night, so we didn't had the chance to enter the stadium. Photos from outside the stadium are enough to make us feel happy that we made it to the stadium of a world-class football club.

After visiting the stadium, we went back to our hostel for a good night rest. That was when we discovered that there was a fast food restaurant right next to the hostel. That was how we fed ourselves for the remaining 3 days in London, with fried chicken, burgers, fatty kebab and fries. I swear, if I stayed for another day there, I'd be vomitting eating those garbage.

Second day: We went out as early as we could so that we would have enough time to visit as many places as possible on that day. At first, we wanted to enter the London Bridge Experience, macam rumah hantu. Huhu.. Faris and me didn't have the guts to go inside, so we decided to wait outside till the others come out. :P But then, because the place have not strated accepting London Pass as an admission, we didn't manage to go inside. Therefore, we decided to substitute the activity with a cruise along the Thames River of London. With our London Pass, the cruise was free. We cruised from London Bridge to the south-eastern par (approximately) of London, which is Greenwich. Was it nice? Actually, it is not convenient at all to sit on a cruise along a river at the weather temperature of 11-14°C (damn cold). But we got to see historical buildings along on both sides of the banks of Thames.

We ended up in Greenwich after being on the cruise for an hour. I think everyone knows about the Greenwich Meridian Time (GMT). Here is where the line of longitude 0° of the Earth lies, specifically at the Royal Observatory Greenwich. We went to the observatory just to be able to see the line which differentiates the time between two zones of the Earth. Place the line between your two feet, and you're actually standing on two diiferent days; one present and the other later one day. Very exciting...

Crite Hindustan 1

After Zohor prayers, we headed out again to visit the Kensington Palace. On our way there, we were disappointed of the subway system; many rail lines were closed. Some were closed due to repair works, we could accept that. But some were closed for no reason. We had to change trains many times just to get to one place. That's why in my opinion, the rail system in Germany is MUCH better.. Huhu.. Anyways, instead of taking the train, we took te bus to Kensington instead. As we stepped out of the bus in front of a 5-star hotel, we saw a number of people crowding. I wondered what was going on. As we walked, Azri shouted from behind...

"Weyh! DIRK KUYT!!!"

Azri caught my attention. As i turned to face him, to my big surprise, i saw Dirk Kuyt, the Liverpool skipper, standing just right next to me, signing an autograph on a ball for a fan. We were starstrucked. If Dirk Kuyt is there, then there must be other players still inside the hotel, we thought. So we waited outside the hotel for about 20 minutes, just to see the players went out of the hotel and board their bus. We didn't left the hotel empty handed though. Azri & Fir managed to get autographs from Arbeloa, Dosena and. Torres was "hochnäßig", that was why he played teribbly during the 2nd leg Champions League game against Chelsea. HAHAHAHA!!! He deserved it..

After that, we continued our way by foot to Kensington Palace. Unfortunately, the palace was already closed for visitors. Pictures in front of it would do then. One thing about London which impresses me is, there are big, green and beaútiful parks where people could sit or lie down and relax. The flowers are beautiful. We walked around the Kensington Park to enjoy the scenery before we went on to visit the Royal Albert Hall where the famous Malaysian artist Siti Nurhaliza performed, which unfortunately was also closed. We also went to the grand shopping complex called 'Harrods'. In there, I felt like I was somehow 'discriminated', because I didn't feel like I deserved to be in there. The stuff there are freaking expensive. A small glass vase costs a damn 460 Pounds. If I broke it, I wouldn't be back to Germany.. Huhu..

We arrived shortly at the Buckingham Palace, where the Queen of England stays. It was already dark, so we couldn't see those guards in red uniform wearing that weird hat. The changing of guards only takes place at 11.30 a.m the following day. There was more walking after that. We walked along the St. James's Park (Park, not NUFC's stadium) until we reached Westminster. Took a few pictures, then took a bus back to the hostel.

Final day: There are still many places to visit. Firstly, we visited the Tower of London, located on the north bank of Thames River. The Tower of London was built in the year 1078 by William the Conquerer. I can't remember anymore the long history of this tower, plus so many kings & queens lived here back in those days, and i can't remember the names except for one, King Henry VIII. There was an exhibition at the tower where the history of this crowned King of England from 1509-1547 is told. It was said that this lad was into sports, especially the brutal sport of jousting. Many of his armour suits were displayed on the exhibition. Each of them have their own special feature, especially in size, because King Henry VIII seemed to have new armour for every battle. Furthermore, the armours are damn heavy. I wonder how he could stand standing with metal suit mounted all over his body. I was amazed by this lad. But then, he died because of obesity. According to source, he had an accident which damaged his knee, limiting his ability to participate in sports. As he got older, he suffered from several diseases, and finally passed away at the age of 55. (No cams were allowed inside, so no pics.. Sorry)

Besides that, there is also a special room where all the precious crowns and royal belongings are kept. The room is highly secured; the door of the room is built with platinum, about 6 or 7 inches thick. My thoughts, so much of the Earths minerals are wasted to produce the stuff displayed here, especially gold. :P (Again, no cams were allowed in the room). Oh, and guess what? We finally found the guard in the red uniform. He was so static. He marched here and there, then he stands still, so still that no a single muscle appeared to move. Unbelievable. I wonder how he would react if ever he had a stomachache on an itch in the butt.. :P

Before that, Jonathan told us that we could also get free souvenirs at one of the shops in London Circus using our London Passes. So, we headed there after we left the Tower of London. Just when we thought it was more convenient to travel with bus, it turned out that the bus system on that day was terrible. Many buses stopped halfway on their route to their supposingly final station. We wasted over an hour sitting in a bus. The name of the shop there where we got the free souvenirs was 'Crest of London'. What i got for myself? Nothing. I got somthing for my family though. :-)

After Zohor prayer, we headed out as quickly as we could to the London Zoo before the last admission. Unfortunately, we were only a few minutes late. We didn't have the chance to enter the zoo, but a few pictures from outside the fence would be enough to satisfy myself. Disappointed & a little bit frustrated, we went back to our hostel.

To cheer ourselves up, we went out again after Marghrib prayer to Stamford Bridge, the home of Chelsea F.C. A big match between the London club and Liverpool was also taking place on that day, the 2nd leg of the Champions League quarter final to be specific. As soon as we arrived there, the match had just ended. A flood of people walked out of the stadium. I have never this much people in my life. I was a little bit scared, that if someone messes around, it could triggre a big fight resulting in horrible consequences. Nevertheless, we dared ourself to fight our way through the flood and managed to enter the stadium. Azri bought a sweater from the fan shop, while Zu bought himself an inflatable but useless chair. (Sori r Zu.. :P).

On our way back to the hostel,we found ourselves in the situation where the Chelsea fans were celebrating their victory over Liverpool. They were singing and shouting. We met a couple of lads who thought us a few songs of Chelsea F.C. It was really cool the way they show support to their own football club. We were given 2 Chelsea flags, but we had to leave one at the airport due to security reasons.

We reached our hostel at midnight. Seng and the others have already checked out from the hostel. We quickly ate our dinner, packed our stuff and left the hostel later that night. Leaving a place on a cold night felt so familiar to me, for some reason. We took a bus to Liverpool Street and waited in a McDonald's restaurant there till the bus heading to Stansted Airport arrived. We rode the bus to the airport, and continued resting there till boarding time. We landed safely in Köln at 9 p.m local time.

So long of a story for such a short trip. I feel very thankful to God for giving me the opportunity so open my eyes to more places on his beautiful Earth. I'm looking forward to step my foot in more places in the near places. InsyaAllah...

"Nemsyi!!!!!!!!!!" Fir shouted from the kitchen downstairs, interrupting my beatiful evening relax watching movies on my laptop.

"Ye????!!!!!" I shouted back, signalling a response, reluctantly wanting to come to him downstairs.

"Turun jap!!! Goeddertz datang!!!" Fir answered back. (Goeddertz is our landlord)

Damn.. why does Goeddertz have to come around this time.. I was so damn tired after class and wanted just an hour of peace without any disturbance. But then, considering the condition of our place, I was determined to get up on my ass and went downstairs.

Funny, the kitchen door which never before ever been closed, is closed. My spider senses tell me something fishy is going on. Nevertheless, I dare myself to go in and check out what as going on. As I entered the kitchen, I saw Azri, Zu, and Fir standing. Weird fact no.1 : Goeddertz wasn't even there. Weird fact no.2: Faris had his handycam with him, and turned on. Weird fact no.3: Azri was standing there doing his 'egg-face' (wait, that wasn't weird. In fact, it really is true). The weird feeling grew stronger. This was what happened:

Bonn

Bonn is a city in the Federal State of Nordrhein Westfalen in Germany. From Köln it takes about 30 minutes by train to reach Bonn. Before Berlin was renowned as the capital city of Germany, Bonn was the centre of Germany's administration (which explains a location in Bonn named 'Bundeskanzlerplatz', which means 'federal chancellor's place'). Compared to Köln, Bonn is smaller in size. But still the city has a lot of interesting attractions to offer to its tourists.

On the 14th of February 2009, my classmates and I made a trip for the first time to Bonn to visit "das Museum der Geschichte" (the museum of history). It shows the history of Germany and its development after the World War 2. The tour inside the museum was free, so we didn't have to pay for the entrance fee. The museum is gigantic. The tour starts by showing what happend after many parts of Germany was totally destroyed, including life as a refugee, prisoners, and families looking for their missing members. Then it shows how the Germans rebuilt their own country (awesome, even small kids came to help). Further in the tour it was more about political stuff. Then, economic (import exports of German, etc). I think many know about the fall of the Berlin wall in 1989. After that, I went straight out of the museum. I felt really bad that day, cuz I had a terrible stomachache, which also made me feel dizzy.

Letih pulak dah cakap bahasa omputih nie.. Tukar pulak jap. Sebulan lebih lepas melawat muzium tu, aku dapat e-mail daripada pegawai JPA, Encik Abdullah, yang menyatakan bahawa ada seorang lecturer Universiti Malaysia Sabah akan datang ke Bonn untuk menghadiri conference. Nama lecturer tu Dr. Mohd. Zaki. Dr. Zaki tak pernah lagi datang ke Deutschland ni, so beliau mintak tolong student yang berdekatan untuk tunjukkan masjid & tempat makan yang halal. Maka, my friends & I pun bercadang nak menghulurkan bantuan.

Jumaat, 27/3: Selepas solat & bersiap2, kami berlima (Azri, Zu, Fir, Faris & me) pun bertolak ke Köln/Bonn Airport, dengan tujuan nak menyambut ketibaan Dr.Zaki di sana. Selepas Dr.Zaki tiba, kami terus bertolak ke Bonn. Dalam perjalanan tu kami tunjukkan cara nak naik tren di Jerman kat Dr. Zaki (Rasa bersalah pulak sebab serang Dr. Zaki dengan info yg melampau banyak at one time). Kami sempat tiba di hotel tempat penginapan beliau, Acora Hotel sebelum masuk waktu Maghrib. Lepas Maghrib kami keluar lagi untuk makan malam. Dr.Zaki dah 7 tahun mengajar di UMS. Subjek yang diajar ialah Physics Teaching Method (Guru2 Fizik kat skolah belajar dari lecturer macam dye la..) Sebelum sampai di Jerman, beliau berada di Istanbul untuk menghadiri satu lagi conference. Lepas borak2, Dr. Zaki pun balik semula ke hotel beliau, dan kami berlima balik semula ke Köln.

Sabtu, 28/3: Pagi2 lagi dah bertolak ke Hauptbahnhof (Central Station) Köln, sebab dah janji dengan Dr. Zaki nak jumpa kat Hauptbahnhof Bonn pukul 11 pagi. Perjalanan kali ini disertai oleh pemain simpanan, Mu'izz yang menggantikan Fir yang tercedera pada minit ke-72. :P Azwa & Lisa pun turut serta. Trip kali ini dimulakan dengan mencari tempat conference yang akan dihadiri Dr.Zaki. Rupa2nya conference nie pasal 'Education for Sustainable Development' yang dianjurkan oleh UNESCO. Tempatnya terletak di UN Campus di tebing sungai Rhein. Cuaca yang kurang tetap pendiriannya (kejap hujan, kejap cerah) menambahkan lagi cabaran untuk mencari tempat tersebut.

Zu bajet macho, Mu'izz macam askar jepun

Lepas tu, kami tunjukkan area market (Marktplatz) yang berdekatan dengan Hauptbahnhof Bonn. Di kedai kamera, kami hanya berniat untuk membeli bateri untuk kamera Dr.Zaki. Turns out that kami mendapat hasil yang lebih. Saudari Azwa dengan penuh jayanya membeli sebiji kamera digital berjenama Nikon yang mempunyai kekuatan 10.1 Megapixel. Tambahan lagi, tauke kedai amat 'gentleman', dengan itu menghadiahkan Azwa sekeping memory card 2GB dan beg kecil untuk kameranya. Kejayaan kami di kedai kamera tidak berhenti di situ, pemain gantian Mu'izz juga berjaya skor sebiji kamera Nikon berwarna merah bergaya. Cuma kali ini tauke tidak menunjukkan sifat 'gentleman'nya, kepada lelaki, maka Mu'izz terpaksa membayar untuk memory card. Dan disangkakan bahawa kamera Mu'izz itu percuma, rupanya tidak... :P

Saudara Azri & Faris juga tidak kurang hebatnya. Setelah bosan menggunakan slingbag sejak dari bangku KBU lagi, saudara Azri juga membeli backpack Adidas yang stylo. Saudara Faris turut support dari belakang dengan membeli backpack berjenama Puma. Nampaknya, hanya aku dan Dr.Zaki yang tiada hasil. Dead wrong! Pantang mengalah sebelum berjuang. Dr. Zaki membeli kasut untuk isteri dan anak beliau. Aku? Kasut, beg, tak mainla.. Bola basket aku bawak balik, baru mantop!

The weather's getting warmer (today 25 degrees). I just declined an invitation to go on a trip to Holland and I have double feelings bout it, partly glad and partly sad. It's okay though, probably there#s another chance another time. For now, I'm just gonna focus on my trip to London, which is, tomorrow. :D

Das Schokolade Museum am Rhein

"Chocolate makes us happy". I think that's the best way to translate the post title. Many people love chocolate, but many also do not know how chocolate is made. Well, my friends and I had the opportunity to learn more about chocolate here in Köln. "Schokolade Museum" (Chocolate Museum) is located just at the bank of the Rhein River in Köln. This museum is dedicated to everything related to chocolate (history, harvesting, manufacturing, etc.). Entrance: About 7 Euro, 5 Euro for students with proof of student identification card.

I think this muesum ain't so boring unlike other musuems. It's interesting because: 1) It's about chocolate. 2) It's not old school, meaning it doesn't look like an old buildng from the inside. 3) There's a strong smell of chocolate in the museum. At the early entrance people could learn the origin of chocolate, how cocoa is planted and harvested, cocoa products from many countries (I found a packet of Milo in this museum :P), etc. The next part is the most interesting part. This museum doesn't only display facts about chocolate, but also make chocolate right inside the building. There are big machines for manufacturing chocolate, and a few workers operating them. Then, theres's this chocolate fountain. Melted chocolate from the machine is channeled to the fountain, so that there's chocolate flowing out of the fountain. Cool, but unfortunately visitors can't simply drink the chocolate from the fountain. There's a person standing there who will dip a small biscuit into the fountain and give it to them.

Warmth in winter...

There's a special large room in this museum, where they keep plants which grow in warm and humid climate. The great thing was, I was able to feel the Malaysian climate in this room during German winter. On ground floor there's a chocolate shop which sells various kinds of chocolate. I had to be careful though, cuz some of them contained alcohol. The price? Oklah.. I'm getting used to Euro. If I keep converting into RM, want to eat also I'm scared arh. :P

It's already spring now, and it's getting warmer. Looking forward to do something interesting this Easter holiday. Maybe go to new places :-)

I just remembered, I was tagged in my previous blog, thanks to Azwa. I'm new to this blogging thing, so I didn't know how it works. Now that I've known, I think it's my responsibility to carry out the task of being tagged (actually I don't have the mood to do it, but I really have no idea what to do right now, so I decided to do this)

Rhein River in Bonn, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Deutschland.

1) My full name is Mohammad Nazmi. Many call me Nazmi. My relatives and close friends call me Mimie (girly, right?). Some call me Naz. My German Language classmates call me Nemsyi, thanks to our German teacher Mr. Lambert.

2) I'm turning 20 this year. I'm one of the eldest in my class. Huhu..

3) I'm addicted to Breaking Benjamin. (BIG FAN!!) been listening to their songs from all their albums every single day since August 2007. I never get tired of it. Even now I'm listening to their songs. (Check it out in the playlist).

4) I went to a Chinese school in Kuching, which is S.M.K Kuching High. It's not a high school. Many people say it's being called so just because it is located on top of a hill.

5) For 4 years I sit in class full of Chineses students. I was the one and only Malay in the class. My mom said, if I wore shorts like them, nobody could tell the difference between me and them.

6) I can't speak Chinese, even though I completed my five years of secondary education in a Chinese school.

7) I like basketball very much. My favourite basketball team is Detroit Pistons. My favourite basketball players are Chauncey Billups, Silk (AND1) and The Professor (AND1).

8) My favourite football team is Newcastle United. The reason I prefer this team was because of Alan Shearer. Back then, when he was still around, Newcastle utd was winning games.

9) I started to play guitar when I was 16. Until now, I have never played an electric guitar.

10) Due to my brother's influence, I was exposed to skateboarding when I was 12. Due to extreme lack of talent, I stopped the activity at 15 and started to ball.

11) I'm also a big fan of Eminem. I used to listen to his songs every day. I still have the words to his songs stuck in my head until now.

12) I have close friends in my hometown who aren't actually "friends". I say so because somehow we are actually related by blood. (really!)

13) I continued my studies in 2007 at KBU International College, Selangor. Only then that I started to practice my Bahasa Melayu Baku. Trust me, I've never spoken real BM in school. I speak in English with my Chinese friends.

14) Why did I decide to study in Germany? Simple. Because I wanna be different from my friends. They all wanna study in Australia, UK, Ireland, etc, but nobody wants to go to germany. So, I decided to go to Germany. No other more rational reason than that.

15) I started to learn German language (Deutsch) in July 2007. I'm still learning now, and currently on level B2.

16) I used to work at Secret Recipe cafe in Kuching from April - June 2007. I was at the Barista (making drinks) as well as a waiter. I earned about RM1200+ working there and learned to prepare many kinds of drinks, including varoius types of coffee.

17) I also used to work as a book promoter. I went to primary schools to promote books from a small publishing company. I stopped working 2 weeks later, because the job was so boring, and the pay wasn't much.

18) I don't smoke.

19) I joined a drama competition when I was in Form 1 and Form 5. I was only a supporting

actor the first time, became the lead role the second time. The second time was the best. People said my acting was so real, that a few girls who sat at the front row of the hall shed to tears while watching our performance. One of my sweetest memories.

20) I had a bike when I was studying in KBU. That bike underwent a lot of restoration process, and was stolen exactly on my last day in KBU.

21) My bestfriend said I look like Adam Levine of Maroon 5. :p

22) I made 2 videos by myself (and f course with the help of my friends) while in KBU, in other words, the videos are self-productions using cheap handycam and edited using sony vegas. One, entitled "Journey to Western Paradise" won us a distinction for our English project. The other one, "Verdreht", in German, won us the third prize in the German-French Video Competition held by the Goethe Institut.

23) I had chicken pox just two days before I was supposed to leave for Germany. I safely arrived there about two weeks later.

24) I am actually referring to Ahmad's blog right now to make sure that I'm doing this tagging thing right, and that I have ideas of what to write.

25) I'm not gonna tag anybody, cause I don't have 25 contacts. I probably have only 3, 4 or 5.

Aspire

On the 6th of February 2009, I made the craziest shopping decision in my entire life. Never before I did such a thing, but due to a burning desire insde me, I put aside all thoughts and spent my cash on it. Ladies and gentlemen, may I introduce to you, the Acer Aspire 8930G.

Why do I say it's crazy? First of all, it costs 1599 Euro. 1Euro=RM 4.70 +-.... Do the math yourself.. Secondly, this thing is a monster. It's so big, it's hardly mobile, even when laptops are meant to be mobile. It won't fit in a normal backpack. I had to buy a bag which is specially meant for laptops these size on order to have it along with me on the road. But then, why did I buy this laptop? Well, it's one of the first laptops (beside Alienware) which is built with Intel Core 2 Quad processor. And, it is the first laptop with Core 2 Quad processor to be commercialized in the laptop market (Alienware could only be bought via its own website, even in Germany it's hard to get hands on it). Here are the specs for my new laptop:

- Intel Core 2 Quad Q9000 (2.0GHz, 1066 MHz FSB, 6MB L2 cache)

- 512MB NVidia GeForce 9700M GT Turbocache

- 4GB RAM DDR3

- 500GB HDD

Advantages of this laptop are:

- Damn fast processor.

- Damn good memory (Excellent gaming experience)

- Excellent loudspeakers

- High quality graphic.

- Large screen: Tengok movie syok!

Disadvantages of this laptop are:

- Costs me a damn large amount of money. Now I really have to jimat.. Sob3...

- Too big for a normal backpack. Needs a special bag. There goes money out of the wallet again..

- Heavy.

Overall, I'm satisfied with this laptop. It's not my dream laptop, but it sure operates really well. Someday I'll get the laptop that I always wanted: the Alienware M-17, which operates with Intel Core 2 Extreme Quad... Someday...

Firstly, I wanna apologize for not giving any updates on my blog. The last blog was problematic, I couldn't upload any pics into the blog. Without pics, it would be boring to read a blog, so that's why I decided to make a new one. Beside, only now I could get an Internet connection at home, after 3 months attempting to get it.
